Wigglytuff’s low CP but incredibly high performance has cemented her status as the Pokemon that was most overlooked upon the game’s release. By now, experienced gym players know that she is, in fact, one of the very best defenders the game has to offer, despite the low CP. Her relatively neutral typing is an advantage as a defender in the same way that it is for Snorlax, as there are no common attackers that can hard counter her with massive type advantage. However, Wigglytuff's low CP will often put her in the lower echelons of gyms, giving incentive for players to use more selfish, less potent defenders instead.

As an attacker, she is of good, but not excellent quality. She excels at training and CP-efficient takedowns of Pokemon countered by her fairy typing. She performs fairly well vs. Dragonite, especially with Play Rough, but Muk and Nidoqueen can cause her problems.
