Aerodactyl is a unique Rock/Flying dual-type, which means it has some radically different resistances and weaknesses compared to other Rock-Type Pokemon. As a Flying-Type Pokemon, Aerodactyl loses its weaknesses to Grass, Fighting, and Ground-Type Pokemon, but at the cost of picking up weaknesses to Electric and Ice-Type Pokemon. Aerodactyl has a strong Attack stat, but doesn't have a great moveset that takes advantage of it. It can only use one Rock-Type attack, which means it can't take advantage of a same type attack bonus. It also has a surprisingly weak Defense stat for a Rock-Type Pokemon, which limits its effectiveness in gyms.
