Players Hatched 87 Million Eggs During Easter Event

Pokemon Go hatched a ton of eggs last week. The popular mobile game held an "Eggstravaganza" over the weekend, which gave players an opportunity to find a ton of 2 KM eggs at PokeStops. These 2 KM eggs had a more diverse batch of Pokemon than before, including several rare Pokemon like Snorlax or Lapras.

So how popular was the Eggstravaganza with Pokemon Go fans? Well, according to Pokemon Go's official Twitter account, fans hatched over 87 million eggs during the one week period. That comes out to a minimum of 174 million kilometers, which is more than the distance between the Earth and the sun.

Fans had good reason to hatch all those eggs during the Eggstravaganza. Players earned double XP during the entire event, which was a great opportunity for players to level up (or at least give players reaching the higher levels of the game a chance to make some much needed progress.)
